If you require limited services, then self-management might be a better choice for you. Or you may hire a property manager but only adjust the fees accordingly. However if you require full services than a full time property management company can look after all of your needs.

Is the company trustworthy and friendly?

Before going into contract with a property management company measure the standard of the company, customer service skills, level of diplomacy, services etc. You must be satisfied with the company because they will represent you in front of you tenants. Any bad interaction with the tenant may ruin a relationship that could take years to recover.

Do you have multiple properties or rental units?

The more rental units you own the more beneficial it will be to hire a professional property management company.

Are you interested in hands-off management?

Many landlords enjoy the challenge of finding good tenants and the rewards of maintaining a safe and attractive property on their own. But if you own property for investment purposes only and want minimum involvement in day-to-day operations, consider hiring a property manager.

Do you have limited time?

Though you enjoy hands-on management, you may be very busy in expanding your business or looking to purchase more properties, arranging finances etc. and may not have the time to manage individual properties then a management company may be a good choice for you.
